Founders

The Fraunhofer-Chalmers Research Centre for Industrial Mathematics, FCC, was founded by Chalmers and the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft in 2001 to undertake and promote mathematical research to the benefits of industry, commerce, and public institutions.

Fraunhofer is Europe’s largest application-oriented research organization. The research efforts are geared entirely to people’s needs: health, security, communication, energy and the environment. As a result, the work undertaken by Fraunhofer’s researchers and developers has a significant impact on people’s lives.

Chalmers is a highly progressive university situated in Gothenburg, Sweden. From this beautiful and dynamic part of the world Chalmers has become known locally and globally for education, research and innovation with a wide range of applications. The goal is to focus on competence, knowledge and collaboration in order to play an important, demonstrable role in social development. The role of Chalmers has a local, national and global perspective, and the overall goal is to contribute to a genuine conversion of society in accordance with the vision “Chalmers – for a sustainable future”.
