The first official user conference for IPS Cable Simulation was hosted by our partners fleXstructures and Fraunhofer ITWM the 23-24th of June 2015 in the beautiful Deidesheim, Germany.

The conference was a great success with over 70 attendees from Europe, Asia and USA, all talking about how they apply IPS Cable Simulation in their work. Industrial attendees included Audi, BMW, Delphi, Opel, Hyundai, Scania, SCSK Corporation, Specma, STIHL, TechViz, Toyota Motor Corporation, and Volvo Cars.

A review of features in IPS 3.0 and roadmap, a hands-on workshop and several very interesting user presentations were given during the two days. More information is available at the fleXstructures website.

The first initiative to simulate cables came from Volvo Cars, who had a need to accurately simulate their robot dress packs. The VINNOVA-funded project “Simulation and Path Planning for Flexible Materials” was started by a consortium of automotive companies and FCC in 2005.

Since then the technology has grown into a software which is widely appreciated in the industry, everything from wiring harnesses to hydraulic hoses is simulated with IPS Cable Simulation with outstanding performance.
